Under the night sky,
you and I walked.
The dim light of the stars cast a halo around us
like ghosts with a form.
Our feet sank in the cool desert sand
as dense as our emotions,
heavy, drowning us
Under the night sky we were mesmerizing, as the stoked up magic of a wizard
Moving up and down the slopes of the dunes
you confined my heart into the vastness of yours
and I held your gaze with my flickering eyes.
I still move about in the brightness of morn
but you have vanished as last night’s dunes.
The brilliance of the sun hurt my searching eyes
but my heart propels me forward.
I walk like a monk, bereft of any possessions
but laden with a hope to walk again with you – my humped friend.
