Hope is Forever

Unfettered, it rises; a song from the gut, a soft whisper in the heart.

Keep it alive and you heal.
Nurture it and you thrive.

It lurks in the starving bellies of the poor and,
in the dreams of the prisoners who wish for the wind touching their naked faces.
It bind a nation together when it oozes pride from the wounds of soldiers.

You might have spotted it in the expectant eyes of the dolled women that bare themselves in the night.
It shines in their glossy red lips and hurts in their pained and tired eyes
Believe me, it is there!

Find it in the lowered faces of the abused women; see them look up at the first sign of kindness.
Look for it buried with the collapsed lungs of the coal miners who wished  to hold a piece of the open sky.
Look for it,  because it lies low. Believe me, it is there!
